PLEASE NOTE!  All accommodations are based on double-occupancy (shared room/bath with another painting participant). If you want to bring along a painting buddy, please add their name to your info form in the space provided and have them submit one, as well. There are a few single occupancy options that have an upcharge.

Bringing your own art supplies is a necessity. Supply list is provided below and on the previous page.

HOW DO I REGISTER

To reserve your space, please pay your $500 deposit on the previous page and submit your information through the info form provided below the deposit button.

If you have a painting friend you'd like to bring along to share a room, please put their full name on your form AND have them submit their own form. Make sure your email address is correct when submitting the registration form. Please add  artensityworkshops@gmail.org to your email address book.

Your space is considered reserved once your $500 deposit is received. You will be contacted by email within 24 hours to confirm your place in the workshop and a registration form will be sent for you to complete within 7 days. Your attendance is contingent on receipt of your completed and signed "Registration Form" and the balance being paid by the due date.

 

The remaining tuition balance is due by Jan 20, 2024. 

Tuition balance is payable by Zelle, check, or money order.  Bank transfers, PayPal and credit cards are welcome, but their fees will be added on to the balance due.

There are no refunds after the last day to cancel on Jan 20, 2024 for any reason as we are committed to our expenses at that point in time. For this reason, we REQUEST that you have travel insurance. Please check with your own insurance company as you may already have a policy in place or consider getting a quote from https://www.insuremytrip.com/

Trip insurance is reasonably priced and gives great peace of mind.

A WAIT LIST will be available in the order registrations are received. If a space opens and you're next on the list, you will be sent an email letting you know and you'll have 24 hours to respond before we move to the next person on the list. WHAT HAPPENS IF A WORKSHOP IS CANCELLED?

In the event that the workshop is cancelled for any reason, all monies paid will be refunded, in full. If a workshop does not make up, we will notify you before the last day to cancel.  We do reserve the right to substitute an instructor of the same caliber for last minute emergencies where it's not possible to cancel. This is highly unlikely.

Please DO NOT purchase airline tickets until after you receive confirmation from us that the workshop is a go on Jan 31, 2024  We are not responsible for non-refundable airline tickets or other travel arrangements in the event a workshop does not make up.

 

We advise you to register as soon as possible as registration is limited to 12 participants. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.

GETTING AROUND FLORENCE

Walking is the only way to really see Florence and this workshop involves walking. Navigating hills, cobblestone streets and climbing stairs is something you'll do daily so joining does require a certain amount of stamina. To attend the workshop participants should be able to walk unaided.

The city "walking" tour through the streets of Florence is several hours of walking.
 
Cabs are included where they are part of our itinerary. Extra cabs are not included in tuition costs, but we will gladly help you order one, if needed. There may be a few situations where we take the city bus. Our day trip to San Gimignano is on a private bus.

ACCOMMODATION

Your accommodation in Fiesole is in a "residenza" which is a cross between a regular hotel and a family run business (small studio apartments) and yours is nestled into a neighborhood of villas just a few minutes walk from the main piazza. In Florence you will stay in an ancient "updated" palazzo in the "Oltrarno" section of Florence. An area where artisans and Italians live and work. Each room is unique in Florence - some have small kitchenettes and others don't.

Accommodation is based on double occupancy (
shared bedroom/bath). Shared bedrooms have twin beds. There are also a few single occupancy rooms that have an upcharge.
Email Debra if you're interested as rooms vary. Room assignment is based on first come, first served basis. 


An alternative to sharing a room with someone you don't know is to bring along a friend (you will be assigned a shared room with twin beds) or a partner/spouse (queen bed). You must name them at the time of registration. 

ART SUPPLIES 

You will need to bring your own portable easel (no large French easels please) and paint supplies (list below). We will provide odorless solvent, but please bring a container with a secure lid to pour it into.

ITINERARY 
A list of activities included in the workshop are listed on the workshop page. A detailed daily itinerary will be made available to students prior to the workshop. Itineraries are always subject to changes. 

Traveling to Florence, Italy

We recommend that you pack as light as possible as it makes for a more pleasant trip. 

All participants must possess a valid passport with an expiration date of at least 6 months after their departure from Italy (Schengen Treaty). It is absolutely necessary that your passport has the correct expiration date and enough extra pages to accommodate an entry and exit stamp. Info can be found at US Dept of State.


Airfare is NOT included in the cost of the workshop. Participant must provide their own airfare to Florence, Italy
 
Florence - Peretola (FLR) is the airport you fly into.

You want to ARRIVE in Fiesole by early to mid-afternoon of May 25, 2024 which usually means leaving the USA the day before (May 24). Please do not arrive before noon as your room won't be ready.
DEPARTURE from Florence is on June 2, 2024 by 10am. The hotel will store your bags if your departure is later.


Participants will need to take a cab on arrival from the airport to the hotel in Fiesole and back to the airport from Florence at departure.  We have found that NOT having a set time for pickup from the airport eliminates participants having to waiting at the airport and allows for complete flexibility in choosing their own arrival time.
 
The airport is not far from the hotel and cab fare is usually between 25-40 euro  We will provide you with detailed instructions prior to your arrival and we are always available by email or phone. The Florence airport is small and has only one area from which to exit where you will find plenty of cabs waiting. It's easy. We'll be waiting to greet you at the hotel!
